From the beginning, Deambrosi Foods has cooperated in the Public Health plans encouraged by the national and international agencies responsible for health. First, the company participated in the fight against endemic goiter through the addition of iodine to salt; thanks to this, after twenty years goiter has nearly disappeared in Uruguay. Since 1991 the company has been cooperating with the Plan of Oral Health encouraged by the PHO (Pan-American Health Organization), adding fluoride to salt to prevent children's tooth decay.
These plans are a technological challenge that has led the company to a transformation in the whole productive process of refining, dosage, mixing and packing of salt for human consumption. Furthermore, Deambrosi Foods has carried out a plan of cooperation with the public schools in the whole country, contributing an important sum of money. For two years the company contributed money to Public Schools for the sale of the GOURMET® tomato sauce line. This money was used in improvements of school premises, and in the purchase of the essential materials for children's learning. This same campaign was also transferred to the PURA VIDA® products with a soy base.
